NGIN (pronounced “engine”) is a non-profit advancing inclusive economies in US cities and regions.
Our Mission
In a country where policies and norms have long hindered equal economic participation, NGIN identifies economic growth and ensures that historically economically excluded communities lead, shape and benefit from that growth. NGIN’s mission is to ensure that economic opportunity is not limited by income, race, gender or geography. By shifting the field of inclusive growth from theory to practice, we work to build shared wealth across all of America’s communities and regions.

NGIN’s vision is to be the industry leader in inclusive economic development, developing highly valued resources for the field, offering leading-edge capacity building and technical assistance, and accelerating innovations which unlock transformative resources for people and places.

NGIN identifies, accelerates and creates innovations which deliver transformative impact in inclusive economic development. These innovations focus on economic growth opportunities which accelerate BIPOC wealth creation and create infrastructure to combat systemic barriers (financing, networks, deal access, etc.).

Our Commitment to Racial Equity
We are deeply aware that the foundation of the U.S. economy is intertwined with years of enslavement, dehumanization, and other injustices. This knowledge informs and inspires our mission. The history of the United States is indelibly marked by its participation in enterprises that left countless individuals dehumanized, treated as commodities, and exploited in the pursuit of wealth and societal status. The profound repercussions of forced labor, land theft, and cultural extermination persist today, shaping the experiences of Americans who confront the legacies of this oppressive systems, as well as the ongoing racial injustices embedded in our political and social frameworks.
Furthermore, we recognize that racial inequities are but one dimension of broader systemic injustices. Factors such as gender, disability, and citizenship status also play pivotal roles in determining an individual's experience with the economy. Often, the intersection of these identities compounds challenges and outcomes. We do not remain mired in this understanding alone. We firmly believe that with thoughtful, deliberate efforts, we have the capacity to address the wrongs of the past and eradicate these injustices from our collective future. Guided by this belief, we are dedicated to fostering inclusive economic growth for all.
